ICC World Cup: Cummins Ready to Silence Indian Cricket Fans

Australia’s Captain, Pat Cummins, eagerly anticipates the World Cup final clash against in-form hosts India in Ahmedabad, acknowledging the one-sided support from the sold-out crowd of around 130,000.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Saturday, Cummins embraces the challenge of playing in front of a vocal Indian crowd, stating, “In sport, there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent, and that’s the aim for us tomorrow.”

He emphasizes the importance of embracing every aspect of the final, staying focused, and playing without regrets. “We play over here in India a lot, so the noise is not something new,” Cummins notes, acknowledging the team’s familiarity with the Indian conditions.

Despite India’s undefeated run in the tournament, Cummins expresses confidence in Australia’s ability to give them a tough competition. “They’ve been playing really well, undefeated this tournament. But we know at our best we can give them a good shake,” he asserts.

Recognizing the impact of Indian paceman Mohammed Shami, Cummins praises him as a “class bowler” and assures that Australia’s batters are well-prepared to face the formidable Indian bowling attack.

Reflecting on Australia’s remarkable year, Cummins describes it as “a huge year” with significant achievements in Test cricket and the World Test Championship. Winning the World Cup, he believes, would be the crowning glory of an incredible year for the team.

“It’s been a huge year. These are four marquee events. To put ourselves in this position, it would just top off an incredible year,” Cummins concludes, highlighting the team’s dedication and success leading up to the highly anticipated final.
